With net revenue of BRL 16.76 billion in 2025 (USD 3 bi), Cooxupé reached 50th place in “As 1.000 Maiores Empresas do Brasil” (The 1,000 Largest Companies in Brazil) ranking published by Veja magazine, one of the most traditional publications in the country. The cooperative climbed 43 positions compared with the previous year, when it ranked 93rd place. The companies included in the ranking generated a combined BRL 4.9 trillion in net revenue during the period. This represented an increase of 6.8%, while Brazil’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) grew by 2.3%.
According to the publication, Cooxupé’s net revenue increased by 58.8% compared with 2024. Shareholders’ equity totaled BRL 2.6 billion, while net income reached BRL 380.66 million. Return on equity (ROE) was 14.6%.
Cooperativism and Coffee Farming
Founded in 1932 and dedicated exclusively to coffee farming since 1957, Cooxupé is currently composed by more than 22,000 co-op members and receives coffee from more than 370 municipalities across the regions of Southern Minas Gerais, Cerrado Mineiro, Matas de Minas, and Média Mogiana in the state of São Paulo. Family farming is the foundation of the co-op. In 2025, family farmers and small-sized producers accounted for 97.6% of its membership, while medium, large, and very large producers represented 2.4%.
According to Cooxupé’s president director, Carlos Augusto Rodrigues de Melo, the position achieved in the ranking reflects the collective efforts of co-op members and employees.
“Joining the group of Brazil’s 50 largest companies is the result of a collective effort from more than 22,000 members and over 3,000 employees. Most of our co-op members are small holders. Families that make their living from coffee farming and find that the cooperative model provides them with the means to access markets and generate value from their production. Alongside them, our employees are essential to sustaining this entire structure and meeting the needs of the co-op members. Being in this position demonstrates how collaborative working, organized through the cooperative model, may expand producers’ capabilities and contribute to the economic significance of Brazilian coffee farming”, he says.
A Structure Among Brazil’s Largest Companies
Cooxupé has 50 business units, including stores and warehouses in strategic locations within its action area, as well as an exports office in Santos. The structure is meant to serve the producers and connect their production to domestic and international markets.
Japy Industrial and Warehousing Complex is a logistics milestone at Cooxupé. The facilities have static capacity to store 3 million bags of coffee (180,000 MT), with in-bulk operations and automated processes. The structure can produce near 22,000 bags of unroasted coffee per day, equivalent to around 60 containers daily.
